PVI reveals 21b dong loss in Q4 of 2008

VietBusinessNews - During the fourth quarter of 2008, PetroVietnam Insurance Joint Stock Corp (PVI) earned 43.75 billion dong from insurance operations and nearly 105 billion dong profit from financial investments. After deducting costs for corporate administration and sales, the insurer's business profit was 64.9 billion dong.

However, the loss of 85.9 billion dong in the firm's other profits led to a 21.1 billion dong of pre-tax profit. Thus, its accumulated profit for 2008 recorded only 188.5 billion dong, decreasing nearly 25% compared with 2007's 250 billion dong. PVI's EPS in 2008 attained 1,985 dong.

Yesterday, 149,800 PVI coded shares
changed hands with the average price of 25,800 dong per share, down 1,400 dong from the previous session.
