As one of the world’s largest and most prestigious steel companies, Tata has been present in the Vietnamese market for several years.
In particular, it recently signed a contract for the establishment of a joint venture with two Vietnamese partners, the Vietnam Steel Corporation and the Vietnam Cement Corporation, on August 13th, 2008.
The joint venture project, which is seen as key to the Vietnamese steel sector, aims to construct a steel complex with an enormous capacity of 4.5 million tonnes per year of processed steel products and ore ingots using Vietnamese iron ore from the renowned iron mine of Thach Khe in Ha Tinh Province.
At this point, the joint venture partners are finalizing the paperwork needed to soon start work on the project.
