Spanish tourist companies seek opportunities in Vietnam

VietBusinessNews - Spain’s Mallorca Chamber of Commerce will send a delegation of tourist companies to a number of countries this year, including Vietnam to seek new markets as an alternative response to the current global financial crisis, the mallorcadiario.com website said.

According to the chamber’s President Joan Gual de Torrella, about 200 companies operating in Mallorca Island’s tourism industry are capable of expanding their business abroad as did successfully Sol Melia and Barcelo hotel chains.

Mallorca is the largest island of Spain’s Islas Baleares archipelago. Tourism is the island’s major industry with products ranging from hotel furniture design and decoration, hotel equipment and technology, management and reservation software, and tourism.

At a forum held by the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade in May, 2008, participants agreed that Vietnam was an attractive destination for Spanish businesses wishing to invest in the hotel sector. (VNA)
