Pennsylvania businesses to explore Vietnamese market

VietBusinessNews - Nine businesses from the US State of Pennsylvania’s Pittsburgh Regional Alliance (PRA) will make a visit to Viet Nam to explore opportunities for cooperation in the country, starting on February 14.

They are scheduled to stop over in the capital city of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and the central city of Da Nang that established a sister city relationship with Pittsburgh last year.

Despite the global economic recession, Viet Nam is moving toward increased urbanisation and industrialisation, said Roger Cranville, senior vice president of the PRA’s global marketing on February 3.

The Tribune Review quoted Cranville, saying that Viet Nam has set a target of GDP growth between 5-6% for 2009 which is “pretty significant” for a country with 87 million people.

"Vietnam is probably at a point where China was 15 years ago. It's better to get in early than wait until it becomes a more mature market," he said.

Pennsylvania companies exported US$118 million in goods to Viet Nam last year, up 258.6% from 2007. (VOV)
