Binh Duong enterprises estimate demand for 35,500 new workers

VietBusinessNews - Companies in the southern province of Binh Duong plan to recruit around 35,500 employees this year, including 31,200 workers, according to the province’s Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA).

Nguyen Phung Trung, DoLISA deputy director, said the province neeed an additional 30,000-40,000 workers a year but the local labour market only supplied a third of that number, with around 20,000 workers coming from other provinces each year.

But with many of the migrants beginning to return to their own provinces which have recently built industrial parks, Trung said Binh Duong companies were facing a shortage of skilled workers.

To attract and retain skilled workers, authorities are offering incentives like housing and monetary benefits.

The province has set up a team headed by a deputy chairman of its People’s Committee to protect workers’ rights and help laid-off workers find other jobs.

It has urged the Government to draft policies encouraging companies to build dormitories for workers.

It has also suggested that when the Government earmarks funds for national programmes in the province, it should consider the number of migrant workers in the province and help provide jobs and social welfare for them.

Migrant workers now account for 60 per cent of the province’s 675,000 workers. In industrial parks, the rate is 90 per cent. (VNS)
